Springfield(MO) Kickapoo finally opened its season with a 45-80 setback against a Blue Valley Northwest squad at the 'Ozark Mountain Shootout' hosted by Springfield(MO) Glendale High School. Blue Valley Northwest is ranked among top 25 teams in the nation by four different polling firms; USA Today Super 25, Student Sports FAB 50, MaxPreps Xcellent 25, and the National Prep Poll by Prep Nation. Winter weather had canceled or post-poned Kickapoo's first four games.
Willard(MO) competed at another "shootout" event, the 'Midwest Showdown' in St. Louis hosted by McCluer North High School. The Tigers defeated Jennings(MO) 47-41. Middle Village(NY) Christ the King picked up two victories against Archbishop Stepinac (83-65) and All Hallows (58-27). Fairfax(VA) Paul VI got two big victories over regionally ranked teams. Montrose Christian (9th in the East Coast region by the National Prep Poll) fell to Paul VI 75-58 at the Nike Hoop Festival hosted by DeMatha High and (#4 in the East Coast region) Washington St. John's 71-51 earlier in the week. High Point(NC) Wesleyan Christian overpowered local competition Victory Christian Center (79-65) and North Raleigh Christian (83-53). Sun Valley(CA) Village Christian had a single game this week against West Ranch and escaped with a one-point win (59-58). Montverde(FL) Academy didn't play this past week. Memphis(TN) White Station came out on top during its two games versus Arlington (67-63) and Central (59-50).
